The No. 13 LSU baseball team (13-3) will be shorthanded for their game against Notre Dame (7-5) tonight, as a stomach virus reduced its roster to only nine healthy position players.
It’s unclear which players have been affected by the virus yet, but LSU coach Paul Mainieri said the team will be ready to play tonight if rainy conditions allow.
“We are down to nine healthy position players,” Mainieri said in a text message this morning. “We’ll know more in the next few hours.”
Notre Dame ended LSU’s eight-game winning streak yesterday, 7-1.
If LSU doesn’t play tonight, it will have two days to get everyone healthy before they welcome Northwestern State to Alex Box Stadium on Wednesday.
