A contemporary adaptation of Dante Aligheri’s epic poem “The Inferno” will premiere March 27 at the LSU School of Music and Dramatic Arts’ Movement Studio. The show, “Dante,” is produced by the LSU Theatre Lab.
The performance morphs Dante’s epic into a love story. The adaptation is a seemingly drastic change from the original plot – Dante’s journey through the nine circles of Hell.
Students from Italian 4051, A Study of Dante’s Commedia, said they find the changes to the plot unsettling, though they support the students involved.
“Dante” runs through April 6. The show brings together theatre, film, dance, aerials arts and musical composition.
