This year’s men’s track and field team finished seventh place out of a field of 12 at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships, failing to top its finish from last year but managed to close the gap between sixth place to only one point. It finished the championship meet with 58 points, one point shy of the sixth place Duke Blue Devils (59).
It received strong performances by its mid-distance and throwing teams. The men’s discuss throwers placed third in the top five. Nathaniel Williams, Jule Rich and Grant Pearce finished second, fourth and fifth respectively with throws of 178-2, 167-05 and 160-02.
Junior Ryan Hill won the ACC individual title in the 1500-meter race with a blazing time of 3:41.02. Another finisher in this event for the Pack was Sandy Roberts with a time of 3:54.67, finishing in thirteenth. This first place finish marks the fifth career individual title for Ryan Hill and first championship in the 1500-meter race. Hill previously won back-to-back championships over the past two years. This individual title just adds to the numerous accolades that Hill has compiled during his time here at State in both track and cross-country seasons.
