April 22 — Chancellor Michael Martin confirmed the identity of the suicide victim in a statement released via e-mail. —————- 8:18 p.m. — University Relations has not yet confirmed the identity of the student, but posts on Facebook and Twitter suggest the student was Keller Zibilich, a freshman finance major in the Sigma Chi fraternity. “Keep Keller Zibilich and his family and friends in your prayers. Makes you realize how fortunate we all are,” one tweet read. Another said, “Rest in peace Keller.” August Williams, history freshman, said he was returning to his room on the fifth floor of Herget Hall mid-afternoon Saturday when he noticed firetrucks, police cruisers and ambulances. A fellow onlooker told Williams a suicide had taken place, and he said he later learned it occurred on his floor. Williams said he was able to return to his room around 6 p.m., while many students were still gathered in mourning around the dormitory. —————- LSU Police Department is investigating the suicide of a student in Herget Hall.
