After E.J. Ourso College of Business Dean Eli Jones announced he would leave for the University of Arkansas shortly before unveiling a new multi-million business complex, the University announced Wednesday that Richard White, Marjory B. Ourso professor and associate dean, will replace him.
Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Jack Hamilton appointed White to the interim dean position, which will be effective June 8, pending Board of Supervisors approval.
“The first order of business we have, following the conclusion of this semester, is to make the move and transition to the Business Education Complex as smooth as possible,” White said in a University Relations news release. “We open our new home to students this fall, and I am certainly looking forward to that.”
White has been at the University since 1998.
“His work as associate dean has prepared him with a broad view of the college and insures a seamless transition over the summer,” Hamilton said in the release.
Jones said he and White have worked closely during their time together.
“Dick has been integral to some of our most important successes, and I have complete confidence in his ability to lead the E. J. Ourso College,” Jones said in the release. “I will do everything to ensure that this transition is as seamless as possible.”
Hamilton told University Relations that the University will soon start searching for Jones’ permanent successor.
