Four-hundred and twenty seven participants made their way down Tower Drive Saturday morning to help fight human trafficking at the fourth annual Tigers Against Trafficking 5K.
The $10,000 raised at the event will go to constructing a Safe House for victims of human trafficking in Baton Rouge and the A 21 campaign, an international organization that fights human trafficking.
President of Tigers Against Trafficking Jessica Addison said the main goal was to inform students that human trafficking still exists and they can do something about it.
After the race on the parade ground, participants listened to music, ate food and informed themselves on human trafficking. Tigers Against Trafficking set up information tables and read statistics about human trafficking to participants.
One of the Lil Final Boyz, Myles Laroux, was the master of ceremonies. He entertained participants after the event and handed out awards to runners with the best times.
Laroux said he enjoys participating in these events because he feels like he is doing a small part to help with a larger issue.
Along with general information about human trafficking, there was a life size cage that demonstrated a dramatized view of what the room of a victim of human trafficking would look like.
Along with the current member of Tigers Against Trafficking, the founders of the organization attended the event to show their support.
