As Florence Welch whimsically glided across the stage sporting a juxtaposition of fiery-red hair and mysterious black gown, a golden
harp emits smooth sounds from the side of the stage.
For a moment, I had left New Orleans’ Voodoo Experience and arrived in indie-pop heaven.
The musical vixen and her machine will play Jazz Fest on May 3, but the band is no stranger to New Orleans. Florence + the Machine’s show
at the 2010’s Voodoo was an energy-filled spectacle, hypnotizing the crowd at the first sight and sound of Welch.
Two years later and the group has evolved into more than just a couple of radio hits. Florence + the Machine have become a staple at
any festival and for good reason.
With Welch’s passion-packed notes and the band’s leg-shaking backup tunes, Florence + the Machine are a must see at this year’s Jazz Fest.
