The National Association of Colleges and Educators recently released their April 2012 salary survey. The survey shows 2012 graduates’ median salary is 4.5 percent higher than the median salary for 2011 graduates.
The survey looks at salaries from jobs in business, communications, computer science, education, engineering, health sciences, humanities and social sciences, and math and science.
Business had a modest increase of one percent in the survey, but specific majors within business like accounting or management saw increases around three percent.
LSU’s Flores MBA program keeps track of their graduates’ progress three to six months after graduation.
Dean of the Flores MBA Program Ed Watson said last year the focus was how many students were placed in jobs after graduation. But this year the focus has shifted to salaries.
Watson said this year the Flores program has seen more salaries between $70,000 and $80,000. Watson attributes the increase to the Flores MBA program and the good economic development in Louisiana and Texas, which are the areas most MBA graduates are placed.
The National Association of Colleges and Employers survey was complied using information from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Census Bureau and Job Search Intelligence.
