LSU players took home a pair of weekly awards after posting a 4-0 record last week, including a sweep of No. 3 Arkansas.
Junior outfielder Raph Rhymes earned Southeastern Conference Player of the Week honors after going 10-for-17 with a home run and six RBIs.
The Monroe native raised his batting average to .491 on the season – which leads the SEC by 65 points – and his 34 RBI rank second in the conference.
With Rhymes’ support, the LSU pitching staff cruised for most of the weekend, picking up National Pitching Staff of the Week from InsidePitching.com.
Leading LSU was its three-headed monster of a weekend rotation in sophomores Kevin Gausman and Ryan Eades, and freshman Aaron Nola.
The three combined to give up just eight runs in three games against the highly ranked Razorbacks, compiling 29 strikeouts in the process.
But the LSU bullpen was equally impressive, tallying 11 strikeouts against just six base runners in 8 2/3 innings of work.
The Tigers moved up to No. 12 in the Baseball America rankings this week.
