The LSU baseball team earned a No. 1 spot in the Collegiate Baseball poll and No. 4 in the latest Baseball America poll, in part due to the effort by sophomore pitcher Ryan Eades who was named the Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Eades was brilliant in LSU’s 7-1 win against Alabama Saturday, when he hurled 7 1/3 two-hit innings, tallying five strikeouts against just one earned run.
The Slidell native improved his record to 5-1 on the season, while dropping his ERA to a team-best 2.51.
It’s the second consecutive week an LSU pitcher earned the honor, as junior Brent Bonvillain was recognized last week. Eades is the fifth Tiger to earn SEC Pitcher or Player of the Week honors this season.
