Dumpster divers get canned Two men unaffiliated with the University were arrested for felony theft on July 23, 2011, when police discovered them digging through dumpsters.
Officers received a report at 7 p.m. that the two men were sifting through a scrap metal receptacle owned by the LSU Graphic Services Complex on River Road, according to Capt. Cory Lalonde, LSU Police Department spokesman. Similar incidences at the location had been previously reported.
Lalonde said officers identified Stuart Brass III, 56, of 7760 Maplewood Drive, and Percy L. Wilson, 55, of 4047 Victoria Drive, as they were taking approximately $600 worth of aluminum and steel from the receptacle.
Wilson was also charged with false certificates when police discovered an illegally altered inspection sticker on his car at the scene. In addition, Brass was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia for carrying a cocaine pipe.
Both men were booked at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. EA employee arrested after leaking video game information LSUPD officers arrested an employee of Electronic Arts Ltd. on Sept. 16 for illegally posting screenshots and videos of an unreleased video game, Lalonde said.
LSUPD was contacted Sept. 15 by Global Corporate Security with EA regarding information about leaked videos and images of an unreleased game, Lalonde said.
Global Corporate Security connected the leak to Michael Atlas King, who was employed at the EA North American Testing Center located on the University’s South Campus at the time, Lalonde said.
King, 20, of 30715 Burgess Road, Lot 71, in Denham Springs, admitted to taking the videos and pictures and later posting them online, Lalonde said.
King, who is unaffiliated with the University, was booked at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on felony offenses against intellectual property, Lalonde said. Man arrested for DWI, driving on Parade Ground A 21-year-old man was arrested on Oct. 8 after drunkenly driving in a circle on the University Parade Ground, Lalonde said.
LSUPD officers arrived at the Parade Ground at 1:47 a.m. after reports of a vehicle driving on the grass. They found Grant F. Owens, of 500 McCormick Road in West Monroe, in the vehicle and arrested him for driving while intoxicated after a field sobriety test, Lalonde said.
Witnesses claimed Owens drove onto the Parade Ground near the War Memorial and began repeatedly driving in circles after passing through a tailgating tent, Lalonde said. Owens’ driving created several ruts in the grass.
He was additionally charged with two counts of simple criminal damage to property, reckless operation and possession of open containers after beer cans were found in his vehicle, Lalonde said.
Owens, who is unaffiliated with the University, was booked at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Man arrested for exposing himself at Nicholson Apartments A 40-year-old man unaffiliated with the University was arrested Nov. 17 after exposing himself to a female resident at Nicholson Apartments.
LSUPD officers responded to reports of a man flashing his genitals around 1 a.m., Lalonde said. The victim also told officers the man had been masturbating while he watched her walk to her apartment.
Officers identified Timothy Burleson, of 300 Chase Drive in Saraland, Ala., as the man who exposed himself.
After denying the incident occurred, Burleson later admitted to exposing himself but denied masturbating, Lalonde said.
Burleson was arrested for obscenity and booked at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. University student arrested after walking on the hoods of vehicles On Jan. 20, an officer observed a person walking on the hoods of vehicles at 1:25 a.m. on the east side of the East Campus Apartments complex, Lalonde said.
The person was later identified as Patrick R. Garrison, a 19-year-old University student from 6619 Westchester Ave. in Houston, Texas.
The officer detained Garrison, who appeared to be intoxicated. He was arrested and issued a misdemeanor for disturbing the peace, Lalonde said.
He said owners of two of the vehicles involved declined to press charges against Garrison. Officers were still trying to contact the other vehicle owners at the time.
Further charges may be made in the future, Lalonde said. Man arrested for illegal possession of firearm, possession with intent to distribute Corey D. Knox of 6545 Brownfield Ave., Baton Rouge, was arrested March 17 for possession with intent to distribute pills, illegal carrying of a firearm and driving with a suspended license.
At 12:45 a.m., Lalonde said officers were attempting to conduct a traffic stop near Highland Road and Raphael Semmes Drive. The car did not stop until the intersection of Highland Road and East Garfield Street, where the passenger of the vehicle fled on foot.
Lalonde said officers detained the driver and identified him as Knox. Officers were not able to find the passenger who fled.
After officers identified Knox, Lalonde said the officers learned he was driving with a suspended license. Upon further investigation, officers found two bags containing about 300 pills.
Lalonde said the officers determined the pills to be Oxycodone and Roxicodone. Knox also had more than $1,700 in cash and a loaded handgun in his vehicle. He was arrested at 12:50 a.m. and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Jeremy Allen Dosie Cook of 8020 Comite Drive, Baker, showed up at LSU football’s practice facility wanting to try out during the team’s Pro Day. Lalonde said Cook wasn’t allowed to try out for the team because he wasn’t an athlete.
After being asked to leave, Lalonde said Cook walked to the intersection of Skip Bertman Drive and Nicholson Drive, where he started to remove his clothing and caused a disturbance.
Lalonde said officers took him into custody and issued him a misdemeanor before releasing him. Student arrested for marijuana possession with intent to distribute Officers arrested 19-year-old pre-education student Nicholas Ryan Darnell on April 18 for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Lalonde said officers were called to Taylor Hall on that day at 5:52 p.m. in reference to marijuana smells coming from a dorm room. Lalonde said officers made contact with Darnell, the resident of the room, with a permanent address of 3985 Fruitvale Ave., in Oakland, Calif.
After speaking with Darnell, officers investigated his dorm room and found 88 grams of marijuana and a digital scale. Lalonde said Darnell admitted to distributing drugs.
He was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
