The No. 27 LSU tennis team will look to rebound from their 5-2 loss against No. 31 Michigan last weekend when in-state opponents Tulane and New Orleans come to Baton Rouge tonight.
The Tigers will play a doubleheader at W.T. “Dub” Robinson Tennis Stadium at 3 p.m. today against the Green Wave (3-3) followed by a 7 p.m. match against UNO (1-1).
LSU (3-2) has had six days to recuperate from a busy week that featured matches against No. 13 California and No. 25 Minnesota in Berkeley, Calif. The Tigers continued the week by facing Clemson at home before heading north to take on No. 31 Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich.
“The Michigan match was at the end of a long, hectic week for us,” said LSU coach Jeff Brown. “It’s been five matches, and we’ve only played one at home, so it’s good to get a couple in at the you.”
The Privateers picked up their lone victory of the season Wednesday, defeating Alcorn State, 7-2.
The Tigers are still without senior leader Mark Bowtell, who remains out of action with an undisclosed illness.
LSU will have a 16-day break from action after Friday’s doubleheader before matching up with No. 11 Texas A&M on Feb. 26. The Tigers will then begin Southeastern Conference play on March 2 when they face the No.6-ranked Kentucky Wildcats.
