The Student Government Senate approved a resolution that would move smoking receptacles 25 feet away from the doors of Patrick F. Taylor hall.
Senators Kolby Lirette and Robert Bostick, both of the College of Agriculture, proposed the resolution saying that the current location of the receptacles encourages students to smoke near the door.
Smoking is currently banned within 25 feet of the doors of all major campus buildings, intending to keep second-hand smoke away from entrances.
The resolution, which passed with 95 percent approval, gained support from senators because they claimed it reminded the faculty senate’s anti-smoking campaign that the student government has not given up on its initiatives.
