The Daily Reveille has learned that E.J. Ourso College of Business Dean Eli Jones will leave LSU for the dean position at the University of Arkansas’s Walton College of Business.
LSU University Relations confirmed Jones’s new position.
“We appreciate the leadership that Eli Jones provided to the E. J. Ourso College during his time here,” said LSU Chancellor Michael Martin in a news release. “He oversaw the fundraising efforts for and the construction of the college’s new Business Education Complex. He has been a good representative of the university, and we certainly did what we could to keep him at LSU. As both a colleague and a friend, I wish Eli and his family the very best.”
Sharon Gaber, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Arkansas, said the University of Arkansas will issue a statement about who they’ve chosen to fill the position later this afternoon.
The University of Arkansas Walton College website posted its dean finalists, naming Jones as one of the four.
The Walton College website states that Jones visited the University of Arkansas from Feb. 12 to Feb. 14 for on-campus interviews and forums.
On March 2, Steve Forbes will join Jones in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of the E.J. Ourso College of Business building, which has been in construction for about two years.
At this time, The Daily Reveille has not been able to make contact with Jones or anyone from his staff. Check back later for more updates.
