From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. this evening in the International Room of the Student Union, students will be able to learn more about keeping themselves healthy in college.
Kinesiology junior Raven Atkins, a student worker at the Women’s Center and the head of the committee for tonight’s workshop, said the Women’s Center will be hosting Healthy Living: College Edition. The workshop will be a lecture period followed by a period when students can pose questions to Elizabeth Buchert, an OB/GYN at Woman’s Hospital.
All students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend the session, no matter their gender or age, Atkins said.
She said Buchert will be speaking to students about diseases, exercising and nutrition in college.
Atkins said as a student worker at the Women’s Center, part of her job is to take part in a fall project, so she and other student workers at the Center teamed up to work on the event.
The purpose of the presentation is to inform students about how to stay healthy while in college. She said it’s hard to stay stress-free in college and choose healthy habits like exercising and eating right. The lecture will give students quick tips on staying healthy.
Because the event is free, Atkins encourages all student to “come out and learn.”
