Aw, how sweet.
In case you didn’t realize it, dessert is the best part of any meal. Like ever.
In fact, I love dessert so much, I’m dedicating an entire blog to it. But being a poor college student, a good, inexpensive dessert isn’t super easy to find. Lucky you have me.
Here are three delicious dessert options for the college student with no time or money to waste.
1. Chocolate-covered strawberries
You only need strawberries, chocolate chips and a little vegetable oil. Melt the chocolate in the microwave (Warning, do not heat the chocolate for too long. You’ll hate yourself.) Add about a tablespoon of vegetable oil to the chocolate, it will keep the chocolate from cracking and crumbling when you bite into it. Dip your strawberries in the chocolate and lay them out on a sheet of waxed paper. Refrigerate until the chocolate hardens and enjoy.
2. Strawberry kabobs
This one’s a little more complicated. You’ll need strawberries, marshmallows, donuts, chocolate chips and some kind of skewers. Place two strawberries, two marshmallows and two pieces of donut on each skewer. Melt the chocolate and drizzle it over the kabobs. Then think about how much you love me for this recipe.
3. Ice cream sandwich cake
This is the most involved, but the most rewarding dessert on the list. You’ll have to have a box of ice cream sandwiches, fudge topping, whipped cream and chocolate chips. Place as many ice cream sandwiches as you can fit on the bottom of a pan. Spread a layer of fudge topping, then a layer of whipped cream. Repeat the process, then freeze the dish. Serve with whipped cream and chocolate chips on top. This does take a little longer than most desserts and probably costs just a little more, but unless you’re having a dinner party, you’ll have frozen cake to eat whenever you want for the next few weeks.
Enjoy!
