A man is dead following a car chase with LSU Police and Baton Rouge Police.
LSUPD spokesperson Cory Lalonde said it is believed the driver shot himself after his vehicle crashed near Essen Lane and I-12 near the state archives.
LSU Police officers saw a Ford pickup truck run through parking barricades at Highland Road and Tower Drive just before 4 p.m. They attempted to stop the vehicle but the truck refused to stop. Officers then contacted Baton Rouge Police Department to assist as the car left campus, Lalonde said.
The chase continued through several areas of Baton Rouge including I-10 and I-12, eventually ending with the truck crashing near Essen Lane.
