Updated 1:06 p.m. — According to the affidavit of probable cause, Bouvay’s alleged call to the EBR 911 Center was made at 10:32 a.m. on Monday. The following was recorded:
“Yes, I planted three bombs at LSU’s school campus. My colleagues planted three bombs at LSU to go off in two hours if my — This is not a joke. I’m gonna go there and—”
Detectives obtained coordinates of where the call was made, 8222 Skysail Ave. and 8224 Skysail Ave. Bouvay was determined as a suspect after investigators searched both addresses.
Bouvay was then taken to LSU PD offices where he admitted to making the phone call. He was charged with communicating of false information of a planned bombing on school property and booked at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
Updated 10:44 a.m. — Bouvay, of 8224 Skysail Avenue, was arrested shortly before midnight on September 18, charged with communicating false information of a planned bombing.
LSU Police, along with other agencies, were able to trace the original call made to the East Baton Rouge Parish 911 Call Center as made from a deactivated cell phone that could only make emergency calls. The GPS location was tracked to Skysail Ave. where Bouvay resides.
After police were led to Bouvay, he agreed to be questioned further and later admitted to making the call. He also informed police of the location of the deactivated phone used to make the call.
Bouvay is not a University student.
Updated 10:15 a.m. — The University has confirmed that a non-LSU student was arrested for Monday’s bomb threat.
The suspect has been identified as William Bouvay Jr.
