Police arrest man in quad
After fleeing to the quad, LSUPD arrested 19-year-old Darren G. Gonsoulin for outstanding warrants Tuesday.
Around 12:50 p.m., a woman said she saw Gonsoulin, her ex-boyfriend, in a car near Lockett Hall, according to LSUPD spokesman Capt. Corey Lalonde.
Consoulin, of 21106 Brighton Cove in Ponchatoula, had an outstanding warrant with Baton Rouge Parish Sherriff’s Office.
When officers approached the vehicle, Gonsoulin ran toward the Quad. Officers caught up and arrested him after a short struggle.
On the way to the LSUPD office, Gonsoulin banged his head against the window of the police car.
He was arrested for having an outstanding warrant, resisting a police officer and simple criminal damage to property and booked in EBR Parish Prison.
Student “jokes” about armed robbery, joke’s on him
Sociology student Ryan J. Bailey was arrested Tuesday and issued a summons for criminal mischief after he admitted to lying to LSUPD officers, Lalonde said.
On Aug. 28, Bailey reported to LSUPD he was robbed at knife point near the Enchanted Forest. During further investigation, officers noticed discrepancies in his story, Lalonde said.
Bailey admitted Tuesday he lied to officers and was trying to play a prank on friends.
Faculty arrested for DWI and felony warrants
Derrick D. Gray was arrested Aug. 26 for hit and run, DWI, reckless operation and two outstanding felony warrants.
Gray, 29, of 4554 Alvin Dark Ave. Apt. 9, rear-ended a vehicle near the French House on Highland Road and fled, Lalonde said. Officers observed Gray’s vehicle on Cypress, and Gray fled near Take 5. Officers located Gray and arrested him.
He submitted to a breath alcohol test and blew .148 BAC.
He was booked in EBR Parish Prison.
University High students hijack beer on gameday
Two 17-year-old LSU Laboratory School students were arrested Sept. 1 for stealing beer out of the back of a truck.
Officers working in the Hart Lot observed Luke Wagner of 1979 Safford Blvd. in Port Allen and Jacob Carruth of 14726 Villa Court in Baton Rouge taking beer out of an ice chest in the back of a truck, Lalonde said.
When officers stopped the boys, Wagner ran, but was apprehended a short distance away.
Wagner was arrested for theft and resisting an officer and released. Carruth was arrested for theft and released.
Man arrested for grabbing an officer
Police arrested 23-year-old Derek Alexander O’Reilly on Sept. 1 after he grabbed the arm of an officer trying to escort a woman out of Tiger Stadium near the student gates.
O’Reilly, of 3319 Greystone Court, was arrested for battery of a police officer and booked into EBR Parish Prison, Lalonde said.
Man blows four times legal limit
Delton J. Joseph, 38, of 7463 Glen Oaks Drive, was arrested Aug. 18 for DWI and flight from a police officer.
Officers attempted to pull Joseph over around 8:45 a.m. on Nicholson Drive near Ben Hur Road for swerving across the centerline, Lalonde said.
Joseph did not stop when officers turned their lights and sirens on. Other officers pursued and eventually got Joseph to pull over near at Nicholson Drive and South Stadium Road.
He submitted to a breath alcohol test and blew .319.
He was booked in EBR Parish Prison.
Man arrested for six offenses
Micah A. West, 28, was arrested Aug. 18 for DWI, flight from a police officer, resisting arrest, careless operation, driving under a suspended license and having an outstanding warrant.
Police observed a vehicle speeding on Nicholson Extension and attempted to stop the car near Highland Road, Lalonde said.
West, the driver, continued to drive and eventually stopped at his residence at 5522 Highland Road.
Though he struggled with police, he was arrested.
West appeared intoxicated and submitted to a field sobriety test but refused a breath alcohol test, Lalonde said.
He was arrested and booked in EBR Parish Prison.
Man arrested for remaining on campus after being banned
Terry M. Lawrence Jr. was arrested Aug. 30 after a person claimed to have seen him trying to steal a bike from the Business Residential College.
The witness said he saw Lawrence, 39, of 3021 Calmet Apt. 2, attempting to get a bike off of a cable lock, and when the witness approached, Lawrence fled, Lalonde said.
Officers located a man matching Lawrence’s description near Highland Road and Chimes Street. The witness identified him.
Lawrence was arrested for remaining on campus after being banned from a previous incident instead of attempted theft because the bike he allegedly attempted to steal was not registered with LSUPD, and the department could not prove ownership.
He was booked in EBR Parish Prison.
Drunk student flees LSUPD
Pre-business administration student Richard P. Sehring was arrested Aug. 18 for DWI, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, flight from an officer and resisting a officer.
Officers saw a car traveling at 45 mph turn onto South Campus Drive and nearly hit a parked vehicle in the Pecan Grove Lot around 10:37 p.m., Lalonde said.
The driver, 21-year-old Sehring of 745 Bethany-Green Court in Alpharetta, Ga., exited the vehicle and resisted officers when they handcuffed him.
Sehring submitted to a breath alcohol test and blew .165 BAC.
He was booked in EBR Parish Prison.
