Johnny Jones reached out to all corners of the world to get exactly what he needed Monday.
He’s finally got height.
Hours after learning of 6-foot-8 forward Deng Deng’s commitment to the Tigers for 2013-2014, Nigerian native and 6-foot-10 center John Odoh also pledged for next season.
Odoh had originally signed a letter of intent with North Texas after an honorable mention JUCO All-American season at Hill College, but reneged on his commitment after Jones bolted to LSU.
It was originally reported that the release from North Texas would prevent Odoh from following Jones to LSU, but new Mean Green coach Tony Benford revised the decree, allowing him to transfer to any program outside the Sun Belt or Conference USA.
Odoh led the country with 14.3 rebounds per game while chipping in 12.5 points per game last season at Hill College.
Odoh will arrive on campus in January after finishing an associate’s degree at Hill. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining once he makes it to Baton Rouge.
