I’m old by anyone’s standards reading this letter. Fifty-seven years old, but selling my first Cokes at LSU games at 10 years old, programs at 14 and then graduated from LSU. Went to seven games last year, even though I live in California. And every game, I leave when Les and the boys sing the Alma Mater. Can’t imagine any other way. My son graduated from LSU last spring and he sorely misses the games and is only now realizing what a magical and fleeting opportunity in time that was.
I’m issuing a challenge to all students to set an example for the rest of the stadium and have not a single one of you leave for the Idaho game next week. What a sign of support to our football team. Don’t think that looking up at the student section and seeing it one-third full at the end of a PAC-12 game doesn’t matter to them. The game is not part of the party, it should be THE party. I promise, if the student section starts it, it will catch on. And then we’ll once again be the most feared stadium in the country. I hate to say it, but we are not right now.
