Anchor [Olivia Gordon]: A student petition lead the Office of Parking, Traffic and Transportation to examine the Garden District–Perkins and Night Bus B Tiger Trails routes…Reveille Radio’s Marylee Williams reports on the possible merger .
Reporter [Marylee Williams]: Fine Arts graduate student Holley Shinn is waiting on the results of a petition to change the Tiger Trails bus routes. Shinn is asking the University to add a night route for riders in the Garden District-Perkins area.
Last Friday, Shinn met with the Director of Parking, Traffic and Transportation Gary Graham, Student Government president Cody Wells and other University officials to discuss possible solutions for inconvenienced riders.
Graham says his office has to look at both routes to get a better idea where riders are going. He says they don’t want the Garden District-Perkins route to affect the Night B Bus route.
Currently, the Night B Bus route takes passengers downtown Monday through Wednesday 6 p.m. to midnight and Thursday through Saturday 6 p.m. to 3 a.m.
Shinn said the student fees should be aiding students’ academics, and the riders who have to be on campus at night need a night service.
Graham said his office would have an answer about the merger this week.
