Anchor [Natalie Guccione]: Along with the pristine band hall, members in the Golden Band from Tiger Land will have cleaner uniforms in semesters to come. Reveille Radio’s Olivia Gordon found out how the band can afford these changes, and what some band members think about them.
Reporter [Olivia Gordon]: Starting next semester Tiger Band members will not be responsible for dry cleaning their distinctive golden jackets. The chore will be picked up by the Band Department. Assistant Director of bands Eric Melley does not think it will dramatically alter the band’s budget. He said the cost of cleaning could be covered once they move the instruments from their current homes in trailers exposed to dramatic temperature changes to the climate-controlled new band hall. Melley said the dry cleaning cost is too minimal to be considered an increase in the scholarship for students in band. Tiger band member and sports administration senior Zack Bordelon wishes the change would have been implemented sooner and hopes it does not deter some members keeping a tradition he calls the streak — where uniforms go unwashed as long as the team goes undefeated.
