Louisiana home cooks have the chance to show off their signature dishes Saturday at the Game Show Network’s “Beat the Chefs” casting call.
“Beat the Chefs” is a new game show that will feature three home cooks and their teammates competing against well-known chefs for a chance at a cash prize.
“We’re looking for fun, everyday people looking to show off their skills,” said Rita Koutsoulis, GSN casting producer. “[Beat the Chefs is] a very fun, feel-good, upbeat, brand new show that’s coming out.”
New Orleans is one of five casting call locations. Koutsoulis said Louisiana natives make some of the best television characters.
“We know that [to] people that live in Louisiana, food is just such a big deal and they’re usually such good cooks. It’s in their blood,” she said. “[Louisiana] people are characters and genuine and make such great television because they’re so fun to watch.”
Interested contestants should arrive at Hard Rock Cafe in New Orleans Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with two or more helpers of all ages, and recipes and pictures of one to three signature dishes.
The application process will include a one-on-one interview without cameras. Koutsoulis said she expects a couple hundred hopefuls to arrive at the casting call.
“Beat the Chefs” will be filmed in July in the Hollywood area and will hopefully be aired during the fall, Koutsoulis said.
