The School of Veterinary Medicine hosted its 15th annual Great Rover Road Run Saturday. The run was sponsored by Hill’s Pet Nutrition. Proceeds benefit the student chapter of the American Veterinary Medicine Association.
The run promotes animal obesity awareness. Kevin Ware, Hill’s student representative, said he hopes the run will make people more informed about the need to keep pets healthy. The event offered a 5-kilometer run for people and a one mile run or walk for pets with their owners. Awards were presented to the winners of both races.
Different contests were also held. Some of the awards included the slowest pet, owner and pet look-alike and best trick.
Rebekah Mack, co-chair of the SCAVMA, said participants seemed to have fun even though rain cut the event short.
