A 3-for-5 night at the plate for LSU senior third baseman Michael Hollander helped the Tigers (25-16-1, 7-11-1) pull off an 11-3 upset of No. 12 South Carolina on Friday night in Alex Box Stadium.
Freshman center fielder Leon Landry and sophomore left fielder Jared Mitchell also had three hits in the game.
Blake Martin got the start on the mound for LSU and went eight innings. The junior gave up seven hits and two earned runs while striking out seven.
Game two of the three-game series is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, and game three will take place Sunday at 1 p.m.
