President Bush will present LSU faculty member Randy Raggio with the President’s Volunteer Service Award this afternoon at 3:10 at the Baton Rouge airport.
Raggio, E.J. Ourso College of Business assistant professor of marketing, is receiving the award for his service with Desire Street Academy, a program providing education for middle and high school black urban males.
Desire Street Academy started in 2002 in New Orleans, but was forced by Hurricane Katrina to move to Baton Rouge, according to a news release.
The President’s Volunteer Service Award was created by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation at the President’s direction.
