University women learned how to become successful leaders at the inaugural Women’s Leadership Conference on Saturday.
The conference, hosted by the Women’s Center and the Center for Student Leadership and Involvement, was held at the Student Union.
Marco Barker, assistant to the vice provost for Equity, Diversity and Community Outreach, said women at the University are continually growing and have become more than 50 percent of the student population.
“For LSU to be at a place to provide additional development for women students is really great,” Barker said.
Darrell Ray, Student Leadership and Involvement director, said the conference was held to benefit womens students, to interact with other women on campus and learn something from the panelists to continue their career.
“It’s an exciting opportunity to hit a special niche of students,” said Emily Burris, graduate assistant at the CSLI.
