A University campus transit vehicle struck a cyclist riding in a crosswalk at the intersection of Infirmary Road and Dalrymple Drive around 9 p.m. Wednesday, LSU Police Department officials confirmed.
The cyclist, a male University student, was brought in an ambulance to a hospital, although his injuries did not appear to be serious, according to Maj. Helen Haire, LSUPD Spokeswoman.
The vehicle, a 15-person van, was already in the crosswalk when the cyclist was unable to stop. The cyclist was thrown from the bike while braking, landed on the street and was struck when partially thrown under the van’s rear portion, Haire said.
