University e-mail accounts were bombarded with a possible phishing scam Wednesday.
The e-mail claimed to be from Hancock Bank and requested recipients complete a survey for a chance to win a $500 prize to be deposited in the user’s account.
The message was sent by [email protected], and the link directed users to the main page of hancockbankq.com.
The official Hancock Bank Web site warns of phishing attempts. Legitimate e-mail messages will address the customer by name and will never collect personal information.
The Daily Reveille was unable to contact a representative of Hancock Bank to comment about the e-mail.
