The LSU athletic director search committee voted Friday to keep six active applicants in the selection pool.
Those remaining in the pool include: Verge Ausberry, LSU senior associate athletic director; Jeff Barber, Liberty University athletic director; Tom Bowen, San Jose State athletic director; Stan Harris; ForeFront Group CEO and former restaurant developer; Greg McGarity, Florida executive associate athletic director; and Michael McNeely, former Indiana University athletic director.
The pool was narrowed from 16 initial applicants who submitted resumes to Parker Executive Search.
The committee went into executive session to discuss McNeely but unanimously voted to keep him in the active applicant group.
The committee discussed possibly keeping Tom Collins, Brevard College athletic director, in the pool, but members voiced concerns about the college’s Division II classification.
Members voted unanimously to eliminate him from the pool.Jack Weiss, committee chairman and LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center chancellor, said the search is in its infant stages and encouraged any interested candidates to submit resumes.
