Neil Mathews, vice chancellor for Student Life and Academic Services, has relinquished the duties of his job effective March 3, according to a press statement issued by Acting Chancellor William Jenkins. The release does not cite a specific reason for Mathews’ job transition. Mathews will transition from his current position to “undertake some special assignments for the executive vice chancellor and provost until June 30,” according to the statement. Mathews will return to the faculty of the College of Education. Eric Monday, associate vice chancellor for finance and administration, will serve as interim vice chancellor for Student Life and Academic Services. In 2005, Mathews was a top candidate to be the provost at Missouri Western State University. Most recently, Mathews was one of the final three candidates for the position of vice provost of student affairs at Portland State University. Calls to University spokespersons for clarification were not returned by press time.
