With a Sen. Barack Obama victory looking more likely by the minute, about 150 people gathered around two television screens at the Red Lion Hotel chanting “Yes we did.”The crowd cheered wildly with each state declared an “Obama state.”Scott Jordan, spokesman with the Louisiana Democratic Party, said he was very “enthusiastic” and predicted the presidential election results might be in earlier than previously anticipated as the senator claims state after state.Britton Loftin, executive director of the Louisiana Democratic Party, also predicted the election will soon be called in favor of Obama.”We’re done with eight years of the Bushes,” Loftin said. “It says that we’re ready for change and we’re ready for positive change.”Jordan, who said Sen. Mary Landrieu was leading the senatorial race, predicted local elections will last further into the night than the presidential election.—-Contact Lindsey Meaux at [email protected]
