BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Republican Bill Cassidy defeated Democratic Congressman Don Cazayoux on Tuesday, one of three congressional wins in Louisiana on an otherwise gloomy night for the GOP. Cassidy’s victory returned a congressional seat to the Republicans that it had held for decades until Cazayoux won it in a special election just six months ago. Preliminary returns showed Cassidy leading with 55 percent to 37 percent for Cazayoux. Independent state lawmaker Michael Jackson had 8 percent of the vote.—-Contact The Daily Reveille’s news staff at [email protected]
