True freshman quarterback Jordan Jefferson will start Friday against Arkansas, LSU coach Les Miles said Wednesday. But the backup position is a little more convoluted.Miles said redshirt freshman Jarrett Lee will be available Friday, and sophomore Andrew Hatch is even a possibility.Lee suffered an ankle injury in the second quarter of the Tigers’ 31-13 loss to Ole Miss. Hatch injured his leg Oct. 25 against Georgia.Miles even suggested redshirt freshman walk-on TC McCartney could see some snaps against the Razorbacks.”McCartney could take more snaps than Lee,” he said. “He’s taken the lion’s share of the second team snaps all week.”Miles said Lee was “a little gimped” in practice Wednesday, but his ankle should improve before Friday.”He did not take the lion’s share of snaps at all in [Wednesday’s] practice,” Miles said.Miles said Hatch would only play a limited role if he’s available Friday.”Hatch may be able to come in and perform in a light capacity,” he said. “I’m not certain.”While Lee, Hatch and McCartney will suit up Friday, Miles expects Jefferson to “go the distance” against Arkansas.”He has really stepped up his attention to detail,” Miles said. “He throws a better ball. He had a good week of preparation.”If Jefferson gets hurt Friday, his replacement will be a toss-up, Miles said.”It kind of depends on where we are in the game,” Miles said.Miles was in a hurry Wednesday, hosting a short press conference due to time constraints.LSU moved its normal routine up one day this week because of the Friday game time.Miles said his team’s practices have been “good since Monday” after the Tigers suffered their fourth loss of the season.”There’s a little bit more want, a little more anxiety,” Miles said. “Everybody wants to pull their weight.”The team will eat a Thanksgiving meal at 10:45 a.m. Thursday then head for Little Rock, Ark., in the afternoon.”I always enjoy taking my team on the road,” Miles said. “Just us guys, just the team, and kind of us against the world, the opportunity to go in there and take over a stadium.”PEVETO’S NAME POPS UP FOR NSU JOBNorthwestern State fired head coach Scott Stoker Tuesday after a seven-year tenure. There are rumors that LSU co-defensive coordinator Bradley Dale Peveto is a candidate for the job.Miles said he had not heard about the possibility until Wednesday’s press conference.”I think Bradley Dale [Peveto] is a great candidate for any job,” Miles said. “He’s a quality coach.”
