Presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain seem to get most of the media attention this political season, but Ralph Nader held the spotlight Wednesday night in the LSU School of Music.
Nader, an Independent candidate for president, held a press conference and rally in the School of Music. He was welcomed by a cheering crowd and began chastising the way government is ran.
“The corporations are our government, and we’ve lost control of our money,” he said. “We have a weak democracy. We say ‘yes’ but corporations are saying ‘no’.”
Robert Savage, University student, said they attended the speech to hear Nader’s platform.
“Personally I’m an Obama man, but if any candidate came to campus, I would have still come out,” Savage said. “I wanted to see what he was all about.”
James Rodi, another student, said he is a big fan of Nader.
“I like how he seems to look out for middle- and lower-class Americans,” he said. “I think he can help us all out.”
