The LSU Athletic Department announced Tuesday that LSU is installing new video screens in several athletic facilities.The total cost of the new boards will be approximately $7.2 million, according to an Athletic Department news release.”These improvements are aimed directly at providing better customer entertainment at LSU athletic events,” said Athletic Director Joe Alleva in a news release. “These Daktronics boards will give our fans information and entertainment with cutting edge technology. It will add a new dimension to fan enjoyment in all of our facilities.”The north end zone of Tiger Stadium will receive a 27-by-80-foot high-definition scoreboard that will be ready for the 2009 home opener Sept. 12 against Vanderbilt.The south end zone scoreboard won’t change until after the 2009 season.New scoreboards in the PMAC are already being put in place. The four new screens will fit into the current structure, replacing the old screens.Both new Alex Box Stadium and new Tiger Park will have HD-LED screens. The Alex Box screen measures 21-by-36 feet, and the Tiger Park board is 8-by-20 feet.Bernie Moore Track Stadium’s new video screen will measure 18-by-34 feet.The soccer, swimming and tennis facilities will also receive new scoreboards.- – – -Contact Robert Stewart at [email protected]
