A student’s apartment in Tigerland was in flames Thursday morning, and the Baton Rouge Fire Department has not yet determined the cause.Robert Combs, BRFD public information officer, said they received a call at 9:37 a.m. about a fire at Tiger Park Apartments on Jim Taylor Drive.Firefighters from five units were able to control the fire within 17 minutes of the call, according to a BRFD news release.Christy Worley, Tiger Park Apartment manager, said firefighters told her the fire may have been caused by an electrical line.”Her apartment is completely totaled,” Worley said. “She’s in school, and I’m trying to get in touch with her.”The fire started in the second floor bedroom and was contained while the first floor sustained water damage, according to the news release.A firefighter on the scene said the fire was “a fairly decent size,” and they were able to prevent it from spreading too much into the apartment next to it. The fire did not spread into the apartment behind it.Combs said no one was injured.BRFD estimated the fire caused $40,000 in damages — $30,000 to the building and $10,000 to personal property.Combs said investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
