City prosecutor Arthur Boudreaux said he is no hurry to close Kevin Mulcahy’s 2006 case.Mulcahy, political science professor, was issued a misdemeanor summons Sept. 15, 2006, when a University student claimed Mulcahy followed him to his apartment as he walked home. Mulcahy was arrested and accused of being a peeping Tom, Boudreaux said.Mulcahy was required to go through treatment and stay alcohol-free before the decision was made to go forward with the case.Boudreaux said the prosecutor’s office never reached that point because of Mulcahy’s most recent incident when he was booked into parish prison on charges of unauthorized entering of an inhabited dwelling on Sept. 4.Mulcahy’s lawyer, Drew Louviere, hopes the charges recently assigned to district court won’t be pursued, Boudreaux said.”I don’t anticipate accelerating the resolution of this [2006] case if there is any reasonable anticipation that the newer charges will not be pursued,” Boudreaux said.Boudreaux said he is assured Mulcahy is continuing with the original conditions and staying alcohol-free despite his apparent lapse in September.
