ST. FRANSICVILLE, La. (AP) — A judge has set bail at $40,000 each for three of four men accused of shooting an alligator.
West Feliciana Parish Sheriff J. Austin Daniel says the 11-foot alligator was often seen with other alligators in a large, water-filled pit off the St. Francisville ferry landing road.
The alligator had to be shot Oct. 2 by a sheriff’s deputy after a passer-by reported seeing the alligator in the water with three crossbow bolts sticking in his head.
Daniel says four suspects were arrested Wednesday night.
Bail was set Thursday for Charles Dousay, Jarred Wunstel and Kelsey Landrum.
Judge William G. Carmichael ordered a probation hearing for Adam Bonaventure.
