SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — A Shreveport couple has donated $600,000 to help the LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport increase organ transplant research.
The money donated by Donnie and Gail Juneau will help fund an endowed chair. The LSU Health Sciences Center Foundation will ask the state’s higher education board to match the donation with $400,000 to create a $1 million endowment.
Donnie Juneau said he has wanted to give back to the hospital since undergoing a liver transplant in 2002.
Gail Juneau said the family felt fortunate not to have to travel to Dallas or Houston for clinic visits and the transplant surgery.
