Chancellor Michael Martin is appointing a working group to develop plans for construction on the area of Nicholson Avenue that includes Alex Box Stadium and the Nicholson Apartments, according to a broadcast e-mail sent Wednesday.A consultant from the Economics Research Associates evaluated the area in July to determine the “best possible use of the land,” according to Staci Pepitone, assistant vice chancellor of Finance and Administrative Services.According to the ERA report, the Nicholson Apartments are “slated for demolition.”In an Aug. 28 interview with The Daily Reveille, Emmet David, director of Facility Services, said there is a possibility for demolition “years down the road.””There is a master plan to redevelop that track of land,” David said. “I can safely say that they will not be torn down within the next two or three years.”
