Michael Ruffner, former vice chancellor of communications and university relations, was appointed as the University of West Georgia vice president for university advancement, according to a UWG news release.Ruffner assumed duties Oct. 1.UWG President Beheruz Sethna said he was “very pleased” to have Ruffner at the the institution.”He brings to the table an enormous set of experience in industry and higher education that we will find very beneficial,” Sethna said. “I’m just delighted we have a person of very significant experience and we will be enriched by leadership.”LSU hired Ruffner in July 2005 to oversee media relations, marketing, legislative affairs and private-funding initiatives.Ruffner resigned from the University to pursue other career choices.——Contact J.J.
