An apartment in Tigerland caught on fire this morning, according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.Robert Combs, BRFD public informations officer, said a call came in around 9:30 a.m. about a fire at 1257 Jim Taylor Drive.Firefighters put the fire under control within 17 minutes and investigators are on scene determining the cause of the fire.
A firefighter on the scene said no one was injured and only one apartment was on fire.
The fire started in the second floor bedroom and was contained while the first floor sustained water damage, according to the news release.
BRFD estimated the fire caused $40,000 in damages — $30,000 to the building and $10,000 to personal property.
