Vice chancellor Brooks Keel has been chosen to become a candidate for the Georgia State University presidency.The Georgia State presidential search committee named Keel Oct. 16 as one of two finalists for the position, according to a news release.Mark Becker, University of South Carolina executive vice president and provost, is the second finalist in the search.Keel, of the Office of Research and Economic Development, was appointed as vice chancellor at LSU in July 2006 from Florida State University.The University System of Georgia Board of Regents plans to name their next president at the next meeting, according to the news release.Susan Herbst, USG executive vice chancellor, said the USG Board has to wait at least 14 days before they can vote on a new president because of state law.
