The LSU football team was picked by media members at SEC Media Days to finish second in the Southeastern Conference Western Division.
Florida was named conference champion on 36 of the 70 ballots cast by media members. Georgia was picked to win the SEC on 18, Auburn was picked first on 13 and LSU, Tennessee and Ole Miss were picked to win the conference on one ballot each.
The predicted order of finish in the western division was Auburn, LSU,Alabama, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Arkansas.
Voting members placed one Tiger on the All-SEC First Team offense, senior offensive lineman Herman Johnson. Senior defensive end Tyson Jackson and senior Darry Beckwith were both named to the All-SEC First Team defense.
Senior wide receiver Demetrius Byrd, junior tight end Richard Dickson and junior offensive lineman Ciron Black were named to the All-SEC Second Team offense.
Junior defensive lineman Ricky Jean-Francois was named to the All-SEC Second Team defense.
