The preseason All-Southeastern Conference Team was announced earlier today, and LSU led the way with 14 players named to the squad.
Senior offensive lineman Herman Johnson was the only offensive player named to the All-SEC First Team. Junior tight end Richard Dickson, junior offensive lineman Ciron Black, senior offensive lineman Brett Helms and senior wide receiver Demetrius Byrd were all named to the All-SEC Second Team.
Junior running back Keiland Williams and junior wide receiver Brandon LaFell were named to the All-SEC Third Team.
On defense, senior defensive end Tyson Jackson and senior linebacker Darry Beckwith were named to the First Team.
Junior defensive lineman Ricky Jean-Francois was named to the Second Team, and senior defensive end Kirston Pittman and sophomore safety Chad Jones made the Third Team.
Senior kicker Colt David made the conference’s First Team special teams, and junior Trindon Holliday made the Third Team.
LSU will kick off its defense of the Bowl Championship Series national title Aug. 20 against Appalachian State.
