BATON ROUGE (AP) — More than 24,000 Louisiana homes were flooded by Hurricane Ike, according to the tally so far. The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness says they’ve gotten word from parish officials of 24,774 home floodings from last weekend’s hurricane. The largest number of home floodings were in hard-hit Terrebonne Parish. There, an estimated 15,000 homes were reported swamped with water from the storm. Jefferson Parish has an estimated 2,500 homes with water damage from flooding.
