BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Louisiana State University has hired a Baton Rouge company for its emergency text message system and will test the new system Friday morning.LSU said it must change because its previous provider, clearTXT Inc. of Morrisville, North Carolina, stopped providing emergency notification.Officials say everyone on the current system will be in the FirstCall Network Inc. system taking effect October 1st.ClearTXT chief executive officer Doug Kaufman did not immediately return a call for comment.LSU didn’t test that system before using it last October to tell students, teachers and others about a double murder. It turned out that a problem with online registration had kept thousands of cell phone numbers out of the database.A test in January showed that problem was fixed.
