BATON ROUGE (AP) — Louisiana’s costs for responding to Hurricane Gustav have hit $384 million after the state sheltered and evacuated thousands, removed massive amounts of debris and provided food and water to residents, the governor’s budget office said Monday. The Division of Administration said those costs were expected to rise. Separately, the storm’s damage to state-owned buildings was estimated to top $100 million so far, after Gustav wrecked facilities in 35 parishes.
